William Hardie, Sr. Obituary

William Albert Hardy Sr. born on March 12, 1949 in Lincoln Hospital Bronx, New York entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at his Albany residence. Albert, as we call him, attended P.S. 77 Elementary School, JHS 127 Middle School and Samuel Gompers High School. While attending Gompers High School, he played the trombone in the band. His career goal was to be become an electrician. He succeeded his goal becoming one of the 1st black electricians at General Electric Company. As an electrician, he started his own company 'Hardie’s Maintenance Service for over 25 years.

Albert wore many hats. He served in the United States Navy where he receives his Honorable Discharge on January 14, 1975. He was a member of the Family Baptist Church where he attended Sunday School, sang in the choir and ushered. He was active in church activities at Family Baptist Church until he relocated to Albany, New York. On March 21, 1993, Albert was ordained Deacon at Elijah Missionary Baptist Church. On May 3, 1996 he received the Distinguished Service Award from Hudson River Frontier Baptist Association Inc. Albert was an active Mason in the International Mason Order. He was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church until he fell ill. Although he had many challenges in his life, it never stopped him. He enjoyed fishing, baking cakes, love to play jokes on you, and always in an uproar with a game plan. It was of great importance to live well.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory: Wife Theresa Campbell-Hardie; Daughter Latoyia Hardie; Sons Marcus Jermaine, Bryant, William Albert Hardie Jr. (AJ); Sisters Deborah Hardie-Terrell, Karen Hardie-Wright; Brother, Thomas Hardie, Grandchildren, Maniya Roberts, Nazae Anderson, Langston Bryant, Lamar Hardie Jr. (NuNu), Sameerah Hardie and a host of nieces, nephew’s, cousins and friends. Albert was proceeded in death by his parents John C Hardie, Alice Rouse Hardie. Wife Kathleen Hardie-Walton; Grandparents, Hosea Rouse, Joanna Best-Rouse; Brother John A Hardie; Sons Lamar D. Hardie, Derrick Hardie; Sisters, Joanna Best-Rouse, Diane M. Hardie-Roberts, Myra D. Rouse-Farrow, niece, Tammi, N.Terrell.
