William Britten, Jr. Obituary

With an aching heart, we announce the passing of William "Bill" F. Britten Jr., who was called home from this world on January 10, 2025, in Albany, NY, at the age of 68 to be with his parents, Joan Carol Van Patten (Dyer) and William Frederick Britten, and his son, Steven Anthony Britten.

Akin to his radiance and personality, Bill was born on a warm Summer July 21, 1956, in "The City that Lights and Hauls the World," Schenectady, NY. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, caring brother, and a doting grandfather.

An esteemed Air Force veteran who proudly served in Korea, Bill dedicated his life to both his country and his family. He graduated Draper High School in 1976 and attended college at Herkimer County Community College, Boise State University, and the Community College of the Air Force. Bill worked for two decades at General Electric in Schenectady and had a fondness for fishing, good food, great conversation, and the Green Bay Packers, the New York Yankees, and the Tri-City Valleycats. But above all, Bill's greatest joy came from being a devoted full-time "Papa" to his six beautiful grandchildren. His unwavering love for his entire family, undeniable selflessness, and penchant for perfect comedic timing made him truly special to all who knew him.

Through his nine years and seven months of service to the United States Air Force, Bill achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and made lasting contributions to his community and society, leaving behind a legacy of honor and dedication, dilligence, dependability, and sense of duty and protection as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Specialist, Technician, and Mechanic. He specialized in the electro-mechanical field with experience working on gas turbines, generators, aircrafts and automobiles.

Left to cherish and honor his memory are his beloved wife, Hyun "Jenny" Britten, daughters Valerie Blais and Kimberly Britten, sons Sean (Lisa) and Christopher (Savanah) Britten; six adoring grandchildren: Kendra, Austin, Juniper, Greyson, Jameson, and Nova; his sister Donna Carrigan, brother Randall Britten, and sister Tina Britten.

Friends and family are invited to pay their final respects and celebrate Bill's life at his memorial service.

Bill will always be remembered for his infectious laughter, vast wealth of knowledge, a never-ending supply of dad jokes, warm embrace, and his sacrifice of self for the comfort of those around him. While his light has dimmed and the world seems a bit darker, his memory and spirit will forever burn bright by those whose lives he touched.

여보, Papa, Brother, Dad...Bill: Until we all meet again, may you rest in peace.
