Wallace Bond

In Loving Memory of our beloved Uncle.  Wallce Bond passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the tender age of 74 surrounded by a family of loving hearts. Wallace was born on Saturday, October 20, 1951, to Dorcas Bond and Wallce Bond Sr., in Albany, New York.  Wallace loved being the baby of the bunch because, as he would reason later in life; this meant that his two sisters, Linda and Cheryl, had to cook for him.  

Wallce carried a vibrant spirit with him wherever he went. He grew up in a close-knit family and was educated through the Albany Public School System ultimately graduating with a High School Diploma in 1969 from Phyllip Schuyler Senior High School often referred to as Schuyler High.  Coincidentally, Wallace would receive his degree just in time from Schuyler High as the school would close its doors for good just five years later in 1974. 

Wallace was an outdoorsman of sorts; it can be said of him that he was really an “Outside Man”.  Wallace loved being outside and could often be seen riding his 12 Speed Bike throughout the city because he loved to cycle.  Wallace is fondly remembered by those who knew him best for being an avid Handball Player.  He could be found on any number of good days in Washington Park serving up the ball in a two-man game. To see him play that game was truly impressive and no none knew this more than his main man Randy, among other friends and associates.

As fate would have it, Wallace would settle in a career which kept him outside for work as he was a Typographer for the State of New York, among other occupations. It can be said that Wallace was the happiest whenever he visited either one of his sisters during dinner time.  He would often enter the home demanding his food or inquiring if there was a plate ready for him as if he were a spouse or paramour, followed by a deep and infectious laugh.

Wallace was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, he is preceded in death by both his mother and father, Dorcas Bond and Wallace Bond, Sr., by his sisters, Cheryl Martin and Linda Henderson, and his daughter Anquaneta “Shaky” Bond; as well as by his niece Mautrese Goodwin, and nephew Ronald “Jahlil” Courtwright, Jr.  He is survived by his daughter Denise Mackey(Wayne) and son Robert Harrison, nieces Tonya Dukes (Rick), Rochelle Henderson, Arosemond Goodwin, and Rosetta Meyers, nephews Leslie (Kembu) Meyers, Anye Goodwin, and Michael Meyers; by his great nieces, Shekia Gandy (Malcolm) Niesha Nia Goodwin, Kahjia Wilmer, Jahkia Wilmer, and Aniyah Goodwin; and by his great nephews Anye Goodwin, Jr. and Raajiem Coleman; and lastly, by his great-great nephews, Malcolm Gandy II, Maddox Gandy, Major Gandy and Juele Brown.

In his final days Wallace received support from his niece Tonya.  It was Tonya who ensured that our uncle received his monthly groceries, medications, and transportation to pay his bills in as much as he would allow her to do so as he was strong headed and independent to the very end of his life. He is our shining Prince, and we will miss him so.
