Tony McDonald Obituary

 

Mr. Tony McDonald also, known to many as “Knot” unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on
Thursday, May 27 th , 2021.
Tony was born in Shubuta, MS on September 30 th , 1972. He was the son of Gloria Jean Yates.
While growing up in MS he was raised by his grandparents, Ernest and Gladys McDonald. Tony
attended Riverview Elementary and completed his education in Wayne County High School in
MS. He relocated to Albany, New York in 2000.
Tony had a love for carpentry and made it a lifelong endeavor to build things out of the ordinary.
Tony’s work got him noticed by T.K. Stanley in which he was offered a job to work for them. He
was so good at his job that T.K. Stanley entrusted his private property for Tony to oversee.
Tony’s big heart allowed him to use his skills to help anyone that was in need. Like B.O., Ralph,
and Sam just to name a few. He was in the middle of doing work for Rev. Alphonso Meadows
at Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion church at the time of his death.
Tony was an avid fisher, painter and loved to play cards. His greatest joy was spending time
with his family and friends on D-Block.
Tony is survived by his children, Tony Stallworth of Gulfport, MS and Jesquavius Leggett of
Shubuta, MS, and his mother Gloria Jean Yates, of Albany, New York. He will be sorely missed
by his siblings Cottro Wright, of Waynesboro, MS, Kenneth McDonald, of Woden, IA, sister’s
Dawn McDonald, and Tieenna Yates, both of Albany, New York. His grandmother, Gladys
McDonald, nieces, Kiniyia McDonald and Qwe-anna Otero; nephew Santos Otero; aunts
Patricia Cooley, Lynette (Sam) McDonald, Ernestine McDonald, Shirley McGill, Denise (David)
McDonald and Charlotte McDonald; uncles Johnny (Kimberly) Cooley, Levon Cooley, Willie
James McDonald, Herman (Nikkee Dean) McDonald and Danny (Angela) McDonald. He is also
survived by close friends, Glendell Ellis and Bernard Odom; special cousins, Charles McDonald,
Eric Carter and Freddy Leggett, and a host of cousins and friends.
Tony was predeceased by his daughter, Iyonnah Leggett; grandfather, Ernest McDonald; and
Aunts Sarah (Zeb) Lawson and Lynetta McDonald.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 5 th at Revelation C.O.G.I.C, 258 Orange
St, Albany, NY 12210. Burial Services will be private and held with immediate family only. All in
attendance will be required to wear a mask.
