Steven Robert Egnor

Steven Robert Egnor, 62, of G. Westinghouse Rd., Howes Cave, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.

Steven was born on January 25, 1962, in Cobleskill to Amerry and Alta (Oliver) Egnor. He attended Schoharie Central School and went on to become the sole proprietor of several successful home improvement businesses. He enjoyed the creativity and challenges that building offered and, over the years, happily shared his talents, teaching many individuals in his profession.

More recently, Steven transitioned from construction to work better suited for his aging body, joining Cobleskill Stone Products. He remained with the company until he was forced to stop working due to his advanced cancer diagnosis in the summer of 2024. Cobleskill Stone Products demonstrated extraordinary compassion, offering unwavering support from all levels of management—from his initial diagnosis through his final days. Their kindness made his journey a little less difficult, and the family will never forget their care and generosity.

Steven had a heart as big as his love for life, always willing to help anyone in need. He saw challenges as either blessings or lessons and lived his life with a positive spirit. Over the years, he connected with countless people, many of whom became lifelong friends or even family.

Though he was active in his community, serving with the Fire Police for the Central Bridge Fire Department and as a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, these were only small parts of his life. What truly defined Steven was his ability to live in the moment and embrace life fully.

Steven was a free spirit who loved loud '80s metal, playing air guitar, enjoying an ice-cold beer, and hosting barbecues. He cherished time spent with friends, family, and those who became like family. Above all, he adored his daughters and granddaughter, who were the light of his life.

Steven is survived by his three daughters: Wendy (Peter) Abbott-Egnor of Sloansville, NY, Tabitha (Eric) Egnor of Cary, NC, and Marissa (Esmeralda) Egnor of Cobleskill, NY; his beloved granddaughter, Annabel Lee Abbott; and his bonus son, Travis McHargue. He is also survived by his brothers Ricky, Rodney(Dianne), Kevin, Keith, and David Egnor, all of the Central Bridge area, and his sisters Shyrle Egnor-Jenkins of Apex, NC, and Brenda Cavar of Colchester, CT. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Debra (Patrick) Skaarup.

There will be no formal service or calling hours. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steven’s memory may be made to Marathon for a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187.
