Spencer Edwards, born January 4, 1927, passed away on September 14, 2021. Born in
Marion, Ohio, he grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. A member of the Greatest Generation, he was
a WW II Pacific Theater veteran (US Navy, from August 1942 to January 1946), Postwar, he
worked as a cab driver in the New York City area before entering a long career at the
General Motors plant in Tarrytown, N.Y., where he retired as an Inspector in 1985. He was
predeceased by his wife, Dolores Edwards, when they lived in the Bronx. In 2015, he
moved to Coburg Village in Rexford, New York. He is survived by his caring daughter
Sondra Johnson-Maas and son-in-law James, Spencer is also survived by his loving
grandson Andre and his spouse Marilyn and their two daughters. Spencer is also survived
by his eldest grandson Spencer, his wife Cindy and their son; his youngest granddaughter
Monique and her three children and two grandchildren; his eldest granddaughter Crystal and
her two daughters and two grandsons; his youngest grandson Calvin and his son. He is also
survived by granddaughter Shannon and her children. In addition, his passing has deeply
affected his aides and helpers - Shelly, Chandra, Amy, Hannah and others, as well as
friends he made in the Coburg Village community.
