Samantha Pittman Obituary

Samantha Renay Pittman aka "Ms.Bliss" transitioned in life and gained her wings on Friday, April 11, 2025.  She was born December 12, 1982, in Waynesboro, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Kimberly Swain and Oliver Pittman.

Samantha received her education in the Wayne County School System. After relocating from Waynesboro, MS to Albany, NY Samantha went on to graduate from Albany High School in the Class of 2001. After high school she attended Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.  She then went on to work for the State of New York. Although she was employed by the State of New York, her career, her passion, and her true love came from something else.

At an early age, she began to have what would be a lifelong love for The Arts. Samatha loved to read and write. She carried on through high school taking part in various clubs including becoming Vice President of something she loved, a book club known as R.A.P.I.D. - Reading, Appreciating, Poetry and Intimate Discussions. She was a member of Urban Guerilla Theater where she was the Publicist and Spoken Word Artist. Samantha could always be found supporting and collaborating within the capital district arts community. She enjoyed working with many groups of people and performing at multiple-spoken word events, yet her love for the arts did not stop there.

Samantha was a founding member of the Curvention movement. Curvention was founded in 2013. She served as the Marketing Director. Samantha Pittman was the heart of Curvention- a radiant light whose beautiful smile, warm voice, infectious laugh and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She was the creative force behind the Curvention brand, playing a major role in shaping it into the movement we know and love today.

Samantha had many gifts which she lovingly shared with the world. She had the biggest heart, and her smile was enough to light anyone's soul on fire. She was a phenomenal baker and was famously known for her "Blissful Bites". Everyone loved her brownies, cracker cookies, and that chocolate chunk coffee cake, just to name a few. She was an excellent writer and displayed her talent by the many poems she performed within the art community. Traveling was one of Samantha's newest joys. Especially since she got to travel to Jamaica for her 40th birthday and valued the memories of her adventure. Her legacy will be cherished forever.

Samantha leaves to rejoice in her memory her three children, whom she affectionately called the M & M’s:  Madison Janae Henry (14), Mason Joseph Henry (12), & Miles James Pittman (7).

She leaves behind her Mother Kimberly Swain-Cooley, her father Oliver Pittman, her stepfather Johnny James Cooley, her brothers Adrian (Buddy) Pittman, & Rhamel (Swain) Swain-Cooley, her sister Janiesa (Nia) Swain-Cooley, one nephew, Cedric Pittman, one niece, Cataleya Flores Swain-Cooley, a slew of family on her Pittman side, her best friends Cheryl Gould, Winell Soures, a predeceased best friend Tara (Star) Martin, a soul- sister La’Quisha Rucker, and all her special friends.

“It is said that when you see a butterfly, it’s someone reminding you of them and giving you a reason to remember all the beautiful memories you shared with them.”
