Ruth Dees-Robinson Obituary

Please Adhere to COVID-19 Guidelines.

No words can express the beautiful nature of Ruth D Robinson who went home to be with the
Lord on January 26 th , 2021. Ruth was the foundation of her family and always there to lend an
ear and a shoulder. She taught us how to live with grace in the Lord.

Born Ruth Geneva Dees on July 5 th 1942 to the late Solomon and Authorine Dees in Camden,
Alabama. She was given the family nickname ‘Baby Sister’ and received her primary education
at Camden Academy, where she was a member the Student Council, Choir and Band. She
graduated in 1962. Shortly after graduating she followed several of her siblings, Willie James,
Paul, David and Solomon to Albany, NY where she would meet her husband William Robinson.
They married in November of 1967. From that union 3 children were born. Ruth started
working upon arriving in Albany. She began at Memorial Hospital as a Candy Striper. She later
began working at State Bank of Albany as a Teller. She moved up through the organization as it
changed names, eventually retiring from Bank of America as a Manager of Network Services.
She was baptized in her youth at First Baptist Church, Mt. Valley Park, Birmingham Alabama.
Wilborn Temple COGIC was her church home here in Albany. She worshiped under Bishop
Wilborn, Elder Jeffress and her brother, Elder Solomon Dees. She was an active member of the
congregation and participated in Senior Usher Board and the Church Anniversary Committee.
Ruth loved all her children deeply. She shared a special bond with her eldest daughter, Lisa. She
and Lisa were inseparable. Whether at Church, the mall or just out and about, if you saw one
you saw the other. As her health failed, Lisa cared for our mother with love and devotion until
Jesus called her home.

Ruth is pre-deceased by her mother and father, Solomon and Authorine Dees. Her brothers,
Robert Dees, Turner Dees, Willie James Dees and David Dees. Her beloved sisters, Tillie Mae
Collier and Sarah Dees.

Ruth is survived in life by her children, Lisa (Gary) Robinson-Parker of Albany Ny, David (Jolene)
Robinson of Clifton Park Ny, Patricia Robinson of Guilderland Ny. She is especially loved by her
God daughter Kimberly Ellis. Left also to cherish her are her Grandchildren, Christopher
(Keyiera) Wright, Milan Robinson, Briana Parker, Miles Robinson and Oliver Robinson. Great
Grandchildren who she adored, Kyla Wright, Miliana Griffin and Carter Wright.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her siblings, George Dees and Alma Dees of Birmingham Alabama
Paul (Iola) Dees, Elder Solomon (Nora Lee) Dees and Gerelene Dees, all of Albany Ny.
She leaves 24 nieces and nephews and a host of Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews to mourn her
loss.
