Rosie Lee Fields, 79, of Albany, NY passed away on May 19, 2021. She fought courageously and we are so proud of her.
Rosie was born October 2nd, 1941 in Charleston, Mississippi to her late parents, Ellen Harris (1911- 1990) and James Gray-Davis (1911-2008). She grew up in Turrell, AR and then moved to Grand Rapids, MI where she worked for Ferguson Hospital and then Butterworth Hospital, where she met the love of her life William G. Fields. From there, she moved to Albany, NY where she worked for the Albany School District, SUNY, and proudly served veterans at the VA Hospital until her retirement in 1994.
Rosie loved life and enjoyed spending time and dining with family and friends, fishing, singing, dancing, gardening, walking at The Crossings, and watching Soap Operas. She was a proud member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, in Albany, and served as Treasurer of their Beauty Club. Rosie gave love and kindness to everyone she met. She will be known and missed for her big, beautiful smile, infectious laugh, loving heart, and unconditional generosity.
Rosie is survived by her husband William G. Fields (married 55 years); children Barbara Fields, Anthony Dean Tunstall, D. Rashad Fields, Evelyn Nicole Fields, and Careen Joscelyn (Fields); sisters Katherine Marshall (Davis), Mildred Brock (Davis), Dorothy Carter, Ada Bell Jones (Gray), Denise Gray; brothers Will Davis, James Davis, and Derek Gray; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters Ella Mae Gillen-Stewart (Davis), Mattie Moss, Alline Hopkins, brother Thomas C. Davis, and Son Caleb Fields.
