Recenia Odessa Greene was born on January 14, 1964, to Ms. Leola Greene and Mr. Amistad Lee Hunt. From the moment she entered the world, she carried a spirit of love, strength, and warmth that would touch the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Affectionately known as “Ceen” by those closest to her, Recenia was truly the heart of her family. She had a way of bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome. She never turned her back on anyone, never hesitated to lend a helping hand, and treated everyone she met as if they were family. To know her was to love her, because she embodied the true meaning of unconditional love.
Recenia lived a life defined by dedication and care for others. She was a hardworking woman who took pride in being a great employee and provider throughout her life. More importantly, she was deeply devoted to her family and was often the person everyone turned to for guidance, comfort, or simply a warm meal and conversation.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Recenia loved singing, dancing, and listening to music, and her vibrant personality could light up any room. She was known to enjoy her favorite shows—especially Law & Order: SVU—and had a special fondness for the character Olivia. Her favorite color was red, and she loved the beauty of roses. She was also known as a wonderful cook who expressed her love through the meals she shared with family and friends.
Above all, Recenia’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a proud and loving grandmother who cherished every moment spent with them.
Recenia leaves behind a legacy of love through her beloved son Kevin, her cherished grandchildren Maliek, Messiah, K’mari, Aija, and Qu’lani, and her precious great-granddaughter Mylia. She also leaves behind a host of loving family members, including nieces, nephews, godchildren, and countless friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and generosity.
On February 28, 2026, we lost our dear Recenia, but heaven gained a beautiful angel. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we remain forever grateful for the love she shared and the life she gave.
Her memory will live on in every song sung, every family gathering, and every act of kindness inspired by her spirit.
