Ray Charles Nixson, affectionately known as “Fats” born
February 4, 1960 grew up in Albany, NY on Ferry Street. The son of Katherine Nixson and Charles Lee Nixson completed his education in the Albany City School District.
Fats retired from being a restaurant owner after years of owning Fat Dee’s. His restaurant was one of the Arbor Hill area favorites. He enjoyed his time celebrating with family at cookouts, playing cards, dominoes, cooking, and watching sports. He was a major Lakers and Cowboys fan.
Fats was a passionate and giving man. He was the leader of his family after the passing of his late mother Katherine Nixson. He loved many and was loved by many.
Ray prided himself in being a great father. He was very proud of his children. He instilled amazing values and morals in them. His daughter and son will have countless memories with him. Ray also loved being the oldest to his 6 siblings.
He is predeceased by his mother Katherine Nixson, his aunt Willie Mae McClain, Betty Boyd, and his uncles Ike Carter, Willie C. Carter, nephew Ar-rahiim Nixson, and cousin Mattie Britten.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving by his daughter Toneisha Johnson, son Enyis Swift, his siblings Willie Nixson (Cindy Wimbush), Richard Nixson, Betty Nixson (L.C. Cooper), Lullabelle Nixson (James Thomas), Cindy Nixson (Lakiesha Davis), Barbara Nixson, his grandson Ramaar Milner Jr, his favorite aunt Mary Carter, a very dear loving friend Lakiesha Davis. In addition, he leaves a host of god children, nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish his memory.
