Phillip Keels Jr Troy, NY was born 10/1/1955 to the late Phillip Sr and Dorothy Keels. Phillip passed away suddenly at Samaritan hospital at the age of 67. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 38 years as well as his siblings and extended family. Phillip was born in Greeleyville, SC he moved to Troy in June of 1966. Phillip received his education in the Troy City School District. He joined the US Army in 1971 and was honorably discharged in 1978. Phillip began a career with NYS in 1981 where he was employed for 32 years. After Retirement he began a new work adventure as a school bus driver for Durhanm and more recently was employed by First Student Inc. Phillip served as Worshipful of Mt. Moriah Lodge #25 and was also a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Albany Consistory #90
Phillip entered into marriage with Sheene Keels in 1985 that union led to 3 children. Left to cherish Phillip’s memory are his wife Sheene ( Nelson) his oldest daughter Shayna ( Alfred) Leigh, Lashana Keels, Shedaya ( Joseph) Mcqueen. 7 Grandchildren Marsaun Keels-Wilmer, Na’Vion Caldwell, Josiah Mcqueen, Evynn Leigh, Na’Quari Caldwell, Joshua Mcqueen, and Lariyah Townsend. Also surviving are 6 Siblings Winnie Mae Dukes, Virginia Pompey, O’neil
(Nadine) Keels, Jeanette, Johnny and Rosa Keels. 4 Godchildren Shaneaka Dukes, Ezekiel Mauzon, Devon Nelson, and Nasir Gordon. 3 special nieces Stacey Pompey, Erica Mcdonald, and Shavon Nelson. A special nephew, Rahman Dukes. Loved as his own Nkrumah Caldwell and Patrice Walker. As well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will forever miss him.
Phillip was predeceased by 2 brothers in law Ronald Dukes and Michael Pompey, 2 sisters in law Debbie Nelson and Alicia Climes and 1 nephew Marcet Waugh.
