Pamela Salmon was born March 4, 1967 in Rochester, NY to Geanethel Denard (formerly Salmon) and Leslie R. Salmon, Sr. and passed away peacefully in her home on May 25, 2020. She was the fourth of six children born to her mother who she always sent flowers for no special occasion, but just out of love. She grew up with her siblings in Scottsville, NY and graduated from the Wheatland Chili School District before attending Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY on a full basketball scholarship.
A hard working, high energy woman, Miss Pam was a certified construction asbestos remover, a certified nursing assistant and a certified culinary artist with a certificate from Schenectady College. A long time resident of Albany, New York, Pam’s favorite activities included helping her community church, soul food cooking that was so good you didn’t mind the cholesterol, and she enjoyed playing board games and drawing. She was a lifelong basketball fan of Magic Johnson, loved rap and R&B music, and received most of her joy spending time with her children and grandchildren. While Pam's life was sometimes complicated, she was intensely protective and loyal to those she loved.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four children Turquoise Moten, L’Chrishia Moten, Tiernan Jackson and JaiVonte Salmon, her heart-son Kenny Jackson, and her young grandchildren Samarie Hall, D’Zhani Norwood, Savior Moten, Pharoah Moore, Mekhi Jackson. She was sadly predeceased by her youngest granddaughter Mahlayah Jackson.
Pamela is survived by her grieving parents, her older siblings Lorna “Paulette” Salmon, Albert (Dino) Salmon, Vaughn Denard, Jamie “Jai” (Denard) Bracey-Green, Michael “Tony” Denard and her younger siblings Leslie R. Salmon, Jr, Philip King and Ricardo “Ricky” Manning, and their respective partners and spouses, nieces, and nephews.
