Nathaniel A. Marable

May 24, 1930 ~ January 30, 2022 (age 91)

Obituary

Nathaniel A. Marable was born in Athens Georgia, born to the late Rev. Hobart Marable, Sr., and the late Gertrude Johnson Marable. The middle son of three boys, Nathaniel was predeceased by his father, mother and two brothers, Hobart Marable, Jr. and Robert L. Marable.

Nathaniel was educated in the Athens, Georgia public school system and graduated in 1950 from the Athens Industrial High School.

Nathaniel was known for his service to his country and community.  Nathaniel was drafted by The United States Army during the Korean Conflict, serving two tours of duty and was honorably discharged.   He received the Prestigious Purple Heart Medal on July 17, 1950.

After his military tours of duty, Nathaniel studied television repair.  Shortly after, he settled in Albany, New York.  While living in Albany, Nathaniel held several jobs, but chose the entrepreneurial route.  Nathaniel owned and operated a tv repair business as well as one of the first black owned and operated janitorial services, “Capital Maintenance Services.”

With a love of music and a great sense of humor, Nathaniel entertained the medical and nursing staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany, New York with his witty banter and light chuckles.

Nathaniel was a man of God and faithfully attended the 1st Church of Albany, continuing with service to God.

Faithful, reliable and dedicated are words that depict Nathaniel’s characteristics as he lived his life.  To know him was to love him.  We loved him, but God loved him first and early the morning of January 30, 2022, God escorted Nathaniel from life to life eternal.

Nathaniel is pre-deceased by his beloved sister-in-law Kathryn E. Hudson Marable.

Celebrating his life, legacy and love are his cousin and caretaker, Cecile Goolsby, his nieces, Kimberly Bobb (Gary) and Kendra Marable; his great-nieces, Kirsten Blackwell-Clark, Krystina Marable, Kathlynne Marable, Sarah Pointer, Kassandra Pointer, grand-nephew, Gary A. Bobb, Jr.
