Marian Loretta McNeal affectionately known as “Tootie” entered eternal rest on the evening of Easter Sunday surrounded by the love of her family. Marian was born in Plant City Florida to the late Willie Mae Johnson (deceased) and Jerry Franklin Sr. (deceased).
She married her devoted husband Richard McNeal Sr in May 1962. They shared many years together, raising their family in Albany, New York. She was a long-time member of Metropolitan NTM Baptist Church.
Marian was a loyal and dedicated employee of Albany Medical Center for 15 years and the VA hospital, where she retired after 17 years. She was known to many as a loving caregiver, giving special attention to all those in her care.
Those who knew Marian will fondly remember her generosity, quick wit and loving and giving nature. She loved to cook and share food with everyone. She was an avid Yankees fan, and she was a staunch supporter of her children’s sports activities. You could find her in the audience at every game and many neighborhood children referred to her as a second mother. Her passing is a deep personal loss to her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jerry and two grandchildren Qua-Vaughn and Ariel McNeal.
She leaves to cherish her memory 5 children, Sandra McNeal, Richard McNeal Jr, Gregory McNeal (Brenda), Gary McNeal Sr (Linda), Sharon Massas, 3 adopted children, Janis Aondona (Moses), Sonisha Walker (Brandon) and Zachary McNeal. She will be profoundly missed by her grandchildren, Tanee Stevens, Tobias McNeal(Brooke) , Gary McNeal Jr, Ambre McNeal, Isiah Ratalsky, Javier Masses, Makiah Masses, DeShawn Congdon, Carter Chee, Jaren McNeal, Kynslee McNeal, Iember Aondona and Msughter Aondona, several great grandchildren, Goddaugher Linda Jones- Tucker , and Godsons Deacon Charlie Harvey, Brian Knighten and Ralphael Tucker and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Metropolitan NTM Baptist Church on April 10th, 2024, at 11am. Calling hours will be from 10am-11am. Interment will directly follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany New York.
