Lewis Kyle Stitt was born on March 19, 1988 in Buffalo, NY to Sheila Saunders and Lewis D. Stitt. The Stitt Family relocated to Albany 6 months after his birth.
Lewis attended School 19 and while in kindergarten he was the only reader in the class and was selected to read to his class during reading time.
During his years at School 19, Lewis was very active. He played in little league baseball as well as the YMCA Basket Ball Leagues. Lewis also took swimming and advanced swimming classes, was a Tiger Cub boy scout, and ultimately advanced to Eagle Scout. He also became an excellent cello player. After completing his studies at School 19, Lewis continued to excel academically achieving straight A’s in all his course work as well as perfect attendance during his time at Hackett Middle School. His academic excellence culminated in his graduating as a member of the National Honor Society and Who’s Who in America from Albany Hight School.
Lewis attended Cornell University and graduated from the State University of New York, Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He also earned and completed his Quality Inspector Certification from the American Society for Quality. Lewis was a very pleasant guy who was always smiling. He enjoyed traveling and shopping and spending Saturday afternoons with his mother at the Troy farmer’s market. His traveling and shopping experiences culminated in Lake Placid, NY with witnessing the solar eclipse.
Lewis loved the LORD. In 2001, he confessed his life to Christ and was baptized at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church by Pastor, Reverend William E. Morgan. He went on to assist with Vacation Bible School, Tutoring program and assisted his mom in Sunday School. Lewis loved attending church and the one thing that could get him on his feet was his favorite song, “Do Not Pass Me By.”
Lewis was the grandson of the late Evelyn and Gerald Saunders and Andrew and Mary Stitt.
He leaves to mourn his parents, Sheila Saunders and Lewis Douglas Stitt, his aunts, Mona Saunders, Tracy Saunders, Kimberly (Steven) Smith, Diane Saunders, Diana (Ronald) Ashton, Brenda Stitt, Yvonda King, Paula Stitt and Uncle Luther G.
