Leslie Joyner Obituary

Leslie Joyner peacefully went to be with Jesus on March 24, 2023 at age 86 while surrounded by his loving family at sunset. Leslie was born on June 6, 1936 in South Carolina to his parents Eloise Ruff-Joyner and Leslie Joyner, Sr. He was the oldest son of 11 children. In 1959 he married LaSharon Joyner and the two were inseparable from that point on. Leslie and LaSharon were married 63 years. Leslie led a successful career as a Corrections Offer that spanned nearly four decades. Leslie proudly served his country as a Korean War Army Veteran and LaSharon was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Leslie lived a blessed life as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, baseball card enthusiast, dog lover, amazing cook, and a beloved friend to all who knew him. In addition to raising their two sons Barry and Randy, Leslie and LaSharon compassionately opened their home to foster and adopt over 30 children. Leslie was a father to all and the bedrock of his family.

To know Leslie was to know the true meaning of unconditional love. He lived to serve. He treated everyone as family and unhesitatingly helped others in their time of need. People gravitated towards his kind demeanor and warm smile that lit up the room.

Leslie was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, LaSharon Joyner, his parents, several of his siblings, and his best four legged friend Keyonce. He is survived by his children Randy and Share- tha Joyner and their children, Kiyannah Joyner, Tierrah (Joyner) Blain and Elisha Blain, and innu- merable others. He is also survived by his siblings Calvin, Carol, Brenda and his other grandchildren Kamryn, Audrey, Eliyanah, and many more. He will be missed by his animal companions Jace and Esco and his best friends William and Attia.
