Leonard L. Watkins was born on March 1, 1949 to the late James and Marie Watkins in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was the oldest of three siblings.
In 1986, he married Diane Watkins and they later moved to upstate NY due to his job relocating. He retired from the Center of Disabilities and was loved and cherished by those he worked for.
He became a member of Call to Pray Ministries where he served faithfully for approximately 20 years under the leadership of, now, Apostle Betty A. Gilmore (Mother In Zion), and under the present leadership of Pastors Tre and Christine Staton of Empire Christian Center. He was a man who loved the Lord and was widely known for his style, smooth, charming and friendly persona with a smile that was unforgettable. He had a love for cars, mainly cadillacs. You knew not to drop a crumb in his car (lol). He was also known as the church photographer who loved to capture pictures anywhere he went. He was loved by many and was always willing to help others in any way that he could. He certainly had a big heart.
On Friday, January 17, 2020, Leonard transitioned from this earthly home to his heavenly home. He is preceded by his father (James), and mother (Marie).
Leonard leaves to cherish his memories, his wife (Diane) of 34 years: 4 children: Leonard Jr. of Brooklyn NY, Shona Smalls of Virginia, Danielle and Eric of Albany NY: 7 sisters: Denise De’Bouse, Josephine Williams, Harriet Whitfield-James, Sharyn Toomer, Cynthia Turner, Dorothy Jean Tuner, Darlene Denson; 4 brothers: James Watkins Jr., Lamont Hughes, George Hughes, Keith Hughes, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
