Kristy Sprague

Kristy Sprague, 42, of Toledo Ohio, passed away on July 12, 2023. Kristy was born on May 28, 1981 to Kim Sprague and Gregory Sprague in Albany, New York.

Kristy's journey in education began in 2010, and her unwavering commitment to teaching and leadership made a lasting impact on countless students and fellow educators alike. Kristy's educational pursuits were marked by her continuous quest for knowledge and growth. After completing her bachelor’s degree in communication in 2004, she embarked on a career in television production research and also served as a Substitute Teacher. However, her passion for teaching led her to further her education. In 2009, Kristy returned to school to obtain dual certification in General and Special Education, expanding her expertise to reach and support a diverse range of learners.

In pursuit of excellence, Kristy earned her M.Ed. in 2015, further enhancing her instructional abilities and understanding of educational practices. Her dedication and determination continued to drive her professional journey, leading her to assume the role of Principal at Aurora Academy by 2018. Recognizing the importance of effective leadership, Kristy pursued higher education and obtained her Education Specialist (ED.S) degree in Leadership from Bowling Green State University in January 2021.

In 2021, Kristy joined VocoVision, where she began her work on the Clinical Management Team. She became certified as a Sterile Processing Technician in 2023. This new chapter allowed her to apply her expertise to support students and teachers, nurturing growth and development in both. Kristy believed that education was more than just a profession; it was a calling. Her passion for teaching was evident in her interactions with students and her dedication to sharing her experiences and knowledge with fellow educators.

Throughout her career and life, Kristy Sprague positively impacted the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the field of education and on the lives of her loved ones. Her love for dance, yoga, mindfulness and family will continue through her legacy through the countless students, friends, and family she inspired and the educators she empowered. She loved her French Bulldog Yoda. Kristy will be remembered as a compassionate, dedicated professional and an inspiring educator who used her skills and passion to enrich the lives of others.  To have known her was to have been in the presence of sweetness. Her cheerful glow inviting you “in.” Hers was a smile that one will never forget. 

Kristy gave her life to Christ when she was a young girl, and as she matured, so did her faith. She was devoted to the Word and passionate about discerning the will of God in all aspects of her life. Scripture was her diet, and she leaned on the Word. 

Preceding her in death were her father Gregory Sprague and grandparents Johnny and Margaret Hall and Maurice and Gwendolyn Jones.

Kristy is survived by her mother, Kim Sprague, brothers Michael Hall & Keith Hall, sister Cynthia Johnson (EJ), aunts, nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

Calling hours will be at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 26 Wilson Ave., Albany NY, on Monday July 31, 2023 9-10AM. 

Funeral and Celebration of life will promptly follow at 10AM. The burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 2150 Central Ave, Colonie, NY 12304.
