 Kenneth Hardy, age 60, was born on Thursday afternoon, March 2, 1961, in Montgomery Alabama to Nell Stokes and the late Willie James Hardy, Jr. He transitioned to his permanent home on Friday morning, March 26, 2021, at 6:00 am, after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. Kenneth’s family moved to Albany, New York in October 1963. He attended elementary school at St. Ann’s Catholic School on Fourth Avenue in Albany. He attended middle school at Cathedral Academy and then Albany High School, where he graduated in 1980. He served the United States Navy from 1980- 1984 and did so with pride. After his service to his country, he was employed for Matchless Stove and Chimney, Cargill Corporation and finally for the Capital District Transportation Authority for the past 24 years. Kenneth was an avid fisherman. He also loved to bowl and play pool. He was a devoted father and a noble man.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory, his life partner of 29 years, Belinda Kornegay; his daughters, Kierra (Lucia) Martinez, Troy, New York and Kennasha Hardy, Albany, New York; his only granddaughter, Harley Martinez; his stepson, JaWuan Barnes, Albany, New York and his mother, Nell Stokes, Selkirk, New York; his siblings, Kelvin Hardy, Berlin Germany, Michael Hardy, Gloversville, New York, Willie James “June” (Akousa, “Coco”) Hardy, III, Albany, New York, Valerie Hardy, Syracuse, New York, Carolyn “Cjay” (Winston) Philip, Baltimore, Maryland; his stepsiblings, Rev. David (Laura) Holmes, Troy, New York, Elizabeth (James) Holmes-Blakely, Frisco, Texas, Paul Holmes, Boston, Massachusetts, Timothy (Tiffany) Holmes, Bowie, Maryland, Jeanette Holmes, Charlotte, North Carolina, Carolyn Holmes, Arlington, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; plus his four legged pet C.C. He was predeceased by his father, Willie James Hardy, Jr. 

The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Evangelist and Dr. Tumuluri at Albany Medical Center as well as nurses Maria, Adrianna, and Kevin and the staff in Building D. Your guidance and empathy were valued in this crucial time.

Visitation/Memorial Celebration will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 at SL McLaughlin Funeral home, 1226 Broadway, Menands, New York, 4-6:00 pm. Due to corona virus protocol, masks are required, and social distance will be observed. The venue allows 40 people at a time. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, New York and the Boys and Girls Club, 21 Delaware Ave, Albany, New York 12210.
