Joseph “Joe” Allen Smith Sr a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend has passed away on July 20th, 2024, peacefully at his home in Schenectady NY.
Born to Shirley and John Smith on May 8th, 1955, Joe was a true Albany native through and through.
Joe’s early years were shared with his siblings John, Gail, Greg, David, Eula, Kenneth, and Benjamin. Joe joined the United States Air Force in 1975 as a civil engineer and was honorably discharged in 1977. He held many other jobs and ended his working career at Freihofer's bakery.
He leaves behind his Life partner Marilyn who took very good care of him in his final years. They made many beautiful memories together.
Throughout his life Joe has met and befriended many people. In 1983, he was married to Sterlene, they brought 2 beautiful children into the world, Shayna and Joseph II (many knew as Joe Joe or Lil Joe). They eventually split, he met Sandra (San) and welcomed Symonna(Mona) into the world.
Joe’s favorite teams were the New York Giants and New York Yankees. Joe was also a little league baseball coach for his children. As we all knew he lived in Bleecker Terrace apartments forever. He made lots of friends and memories there also.
Predeceased by his parents and brother John. Joe’s memory is honored by his children Shayna, Joe II and Symonna, in addition to grandchildren Ajere, JoVanni, DeAnte, Caleb, Bre’Janae, Jream, his siblings, a host of nieces, nephews and Life Partner Marilyn.
Joe Smith will be deeply missed. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
