Javon W. Ward Obituary

**Obituary for Javon Oympia Willie Ward**

Javon Oympia Willie Ward, affectionately known as "Speedy" and "Kain," received his wings on June 5, 2024, at the age of 30. Born on September 10, 1993, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY, Javon was the beloved son of Oralie Ward and Joseph (Butchie) Ward Jr.

A lifelong resident of Albany, Javon’s vibrant spirit touched many lives. He attended Albany City Schools and graduated from Albany High School, where his passion for sports flourished. A devoted athlete, Javon played football for Pop Warner and basketball alongside Jamil Hood. Beyond sports, he found joy in cars, fashion, and music, and his love for dancing was infectious.

Javon’s true happiness was in spending time with his family, especially his children, parents, nieces, and nephews. His radiant smile and warm personality brightened every room. Third Street was more than just a location to Javon; it was his home base and community. Known for his generosity, he was always willing to help others, often giving the shirt off his back. His bond with his brother Najee was especially strong, as they were not just siblings but best friends.

Javon was skilled and hardworking, known for his proficiency in working on cars and homes alongside his father and brothers. He held various jobs throughout Albany, contributing positively to the community.

Javon leaves behind a loving family, including his four cherished children: Avion, Sanai, Kain, and Kamari Ward; his devoted fiancée, Shytasia Gittens; and the mother of his child, Dasheema Maywether. He is also survived by his seven brothers: Lakee Burke, Joey, Jamie, Marcus (Lekeya), Robert, Najee, and Joshua; three sisters: Rasheema, Rondayia, and Nylasia; and a large extended family, including aunts Cynthia, Victoria, Joanna (Pete), Cathy, and Malinda; uncles Gene and Maurice; and favorite cousin Sonja Melton. His uncle, "Baby NoNo" Nova Ward, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom he loved dearly, mourn his passing. His best friends, Tamar and Popeye, and special friend Amin (Corisha), also grieve his loss.

Javon is predeceased by his grandfathers Orie Burke and Joseph Ward, and grandmothers Myrtle Johnson and Jessie Ward.

Though his life was tragically short, Javon’s legacy of kindness, familial devotion, and unyielding spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
