I-Quana McCann Obituary

I-Quana Monee’ McCann was born on January 12, 1996, affectionately known by Monee’ and loved by all, our beloved transitioned on March 24, 2023with her family and friends at her side. I-Quana was a amazing daughter, sister, niece, auntie, cousin and friend. 

Since the tender age of twelve I-Quana fought a tough battle with type 1 diabetes and more recently renal kidney failure became a part of the battle which caused her to be on dialysis. She was on the waiting list to receive a new kidney, before her final trip to Albany Medical Center. 

I-Quana was born and raised in Albany, NY and attended the Albany City School District. She received her GED from Glenmont Job Corp. where she also obtained certifications for Personal Care, Home Health Aide and Certified Nursing Assistant.  I-Quana was perusing her medical assistant degree as well. I-Quana has always been a very loving and caring person which led her to work in the healthcare field. Even through some of her toughest times she still managed to take care of others. 

I-Quana a fashionista has always been a sneaker and shoe connoisseur. A hard worker who enjoyed going to the movies, listening to music, traveling, cooking especially recipes she would find on social media, playing the violin, adventures with the live crew, quality time with family and friends and most of all quality time with her nieces and nephews. 

 I-Quana is the daughter of Leslie R. McCann and Richard A. Mayo. I-Quana is survived by her four sisters, Shaevahjah S. Humbert, Sha’Quana R. Mayo, Quanisha M. Mayo, Jonisha Y. Mayo and four brothers Rasheem D. Mayo, I-Quan A. Mayo, Kareem A. Williams and Richard A. Mayo. Her Maternal Grandmother Maxine Dewitt her Aunts Tonya Holland, Brenda Robinson, Charlene Coles, Michelle Mayo, and Challana Dobbs, her Uncles Joseph McCann, Timothy Harry Graham, Richard Coles, and Romaine Mayo 5 nieces, 6 nephews and a host of great aunts, greatuncles, cousins, friends and her special friend Dywuan Blunt.  

I-Quana was predeceased by her maternal Grandfather Joe Louis McCann, Paternal Grandmother JoAnn Sweetenburgh Mayo, her Grandfather Richard A. Mayo Sr., Uncle Louis John (LJ) Fullard, Aunt Jeneen A. M. McCann and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, childhood friends and her close friend Tonita Glassford.

I-Quana will be missed dearly and will forever be in our hearts.
