Herman fulfilled the course of his earthy life, assumed and body and soul into heavenly glory surrounded by his loving family.
Herman Rudolph Farmer was born in South Boston, Virginia. He was the son of the late Edward Farmer, Sr. and Alma Chapel Farmer.
Herman was the loving and devoted husband of the late Geneva Iona Farmer for well over 4 decades. He had a very long career as a master welder with Conrail until his retirement. Herman was an avid pool player, participating in and often wining tournaments. He was also a faithful member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church until his wife’s illness prevented him from attending regularly. He was a wonderful, remarkable husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He was very proud of his family and the life they built together. Herman leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Sayonara Taylor, Princena Floyd, Tamiko (Otis) Barrow, Jamar (Donaldful) Koonce of Albany, NY; and Veda Mahadi, Sarasota, FL; 14 Grandchildren: Tavon, Veasia, Mustafic, Dashaun, Shakira, Tiaiara, Donshmar, Sideem, Brett, Farrad, Omari, Ai’Zhane, Oliajuwon and Elias; one sister, Kay Coates, Newport News, VA; two brothers, Edward Jr., Schenetady, NY and John Farmer, Albuquerque, NM.
In addition to his parents, Herman was predeceased by his beautiful wife Geneva, his son, Ulysses Bruce McKnight and his sister, Helen Winbush. He will also be remembered by a host of loving relatives and friends.
“I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her.”
(Ellen Brennevien)
