Henry Lee McCann was born on November 26, 1941, to the union of William Ruben McCann and Mittie Mae “Candy” Denard, in Shubuta, MS. Later moved to Hattiesburg, MS.
At an early age Henry enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Germany. After receiving an honorable discharge Sept. 03, 1964, he moved to Albany, NY. He later re-enlisted in the United States Army Reserves.
There are many memories of Henry Lee McCann. He was known for his gift of playing the guitar, love of fishing and hunting, doing pushups with his index finger and thumb with one arm behind his back, the way he stood: leaning on one leg with his hands in his pockets, his unforgettable contagious laugh and let us not forget his fiery temper. He was always bragging about how proud, he was of his children.
Henry relocated to the city of Albany, in the early 1960’s. He joined Greater St. Johns COGIC formerly known as St. Johns COGIC under the covering of Elder Jack John Johnson. He participated in the services and was faithful as the guitar player. He played during St. John’s praise services. Henry was among the men of St. John’s who were taught the way of Holiness.

Dear Dad,
The moments and times I spent with you are priceless. You treated as a father would treat a princess. I remember you taking me to Lincoln Park throwing a baseball to each other. My life with you was a home was away from home. Those are memories that I will never forget. I will treasure them all day of my life.
Your Eldest Child,
Zela Marie Johnson
