Gertrude Moses was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was blessed to have a long good life. She quietly departed this life on April 5, 2022 at the age of 96.
Mrs. Gertrude Moses, daughter of the late William and Gertrude Brooks was born March 3, 1926 in Catskill, NY. She was a graduate of Catskill High School in 1945. She loved God, at an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ.
She was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Moses, Sr. in July 1948.This union was blessed with nine children. Samuel Moses, Sr. preceded her in death on January 5, 2019. Gertude’s life was very fulfilled; she dedicated her life to raising her nine children.
As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. So much so, she was best known as the “Icee Lady”. In 1970, she decided to start a new career. She was employed by Troy School District. She worked for the District 25 years as a teacher’s aide at her beloved School 12.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Frank Brooks, Nelly Hall, Ruby Brooks and WIlliam Brooks.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Samuel (Carol) Moses, Jr., Frank (Melodee) Moses, George (Janet) Moses, Sally (late Anthony) Walston, Ruby (Tyrone) Johnson, Leonard Moses, Paul Moses, Rebecca Moses, and Joseph (Elitha) Moses. 17-grandchildren, 28-great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
