Geraldine L. Gibson

Geraldine L. Gibson, 61, of Albany New York, entered into eternal peace on February 25, 2024. Lovingly known as GeeGee, she was born on January 29, 1963 in Boston, Massachusetts to parents Robert B. Gibson and Gladys L. Jones-Gibson. She attended Troy High School and later went on to be a caregiver after having her first son. GeeGee worked in academic food service since 1999 at The University of Albany as a Supervisor. GeeGee was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend whose radiant presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her. 

Geraldine is survived by her children Levon Dewitt of Watervliet, Akenndia Gibson of Albany, Tayshawn Gibson of Albany, and Shamarra Gibson of Albany. Her beloved grandchildren J’vonte Green, Asia Walker, Elijah Dewitt, J-Rod Walker, Amarria Gibson, Jeremiah Dewitt, Aniyah Gibson, Tayshawn Gibson Jr., Aaliyah Dewitt, Destiny Gibson-Harris, and Jah’shua Gibson. Siblings Jeffery Gibson (Jeanne), Robert Gibson, Martin Gibson, Stephone Gibson, Stephanie Mitchell, Tracey Morrison, Christopher Gibson, RC Pruitt and Marjorie Ann Felton. Two godchildren, Felicia Thomas and Sha’vor Davis. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends.

GeGe was predeceased by her father and mother, grandson Ja’shawn Gibson, brothers Thomas Pruitt, Bartholomew Gibson, James Gibson, Sr., sisters Sadie Thomas, Cuemi Gibson, Ivy Fay Gibson, Cassandra Gibson, and great niece Tatianna Gill.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, March 6th from 1pm to 1:30pm for family members, 1:30pm to 3pm for extended loved ones at SL Mclaughlin Funeral Home, 1226 Broadway, Albany, NY 12204 with a funeral service to follow at 3pm. A repast and celebration of life will be held at 5pm at 526 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12206.
