Georgia Mae Singletary born on February 21st, 1967 in Albany NY to Betty Singletary -Gross and the late B.W. Butler.
Georgia Peacefully transitioned into the arms of Jesus on Sunday May 30th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Georgia was educated in the Albany School System.
Georgia worked for many years in various homes throughout her life providing private duty nursing services to homebound clients until her illness prevented her from working.
As a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece, cousin & fiancé Georgia was passionate about family & her extended family and embraced her life to the fullest on her terms.
Georgia was known for putting the needs of others before herself and if someone needed a place to sleep or needed a hot meal her doors were always opened.
Georgia had a love for cooking, playing cards & bingo, listening to music, and having HUGE family & friend engagements.
Georgia was predeceased by her father B.W. Butler, her maternal grandparents Jasper Sr & Georgia Mae Singletary, her paternal grandparents Leroy Butler & Hattie Mae Butler, Georgia was also predeceased by her sister Thea Rucker -Slaughter & her GOD mother Bernice Norwood. Left to cherish Georgia’s memory’s and celebrate her life, her son Lamar VanNess (Newport News VA), her Loving fiancé & devoted caretaker James Guthrie (Albany NY), Two God Children, Madesha Terry (Cohoes NY) & Kiori Lownes (Troy NY), her mother Betty (Michael) Singletary-Gross. Siblings Anthony Singletary (Albany NY), Bridget (Juan) Singletary-Turner (Albany NY), Gaston Hooks, Virgil Butler, Leroy Butler, Ronnia Butler, Denise Rhodes, all of Albany NY & Beecil Minley (Detroit NY), Stepbrother Tristen Gross (Troy NY), (Albany NY) & GOD Parent Ahmptom Lacy (Albany NY), Two GOD Sisters Tamika Lawyer (Watervliet NY) & Lawanda Lawyer-Eddins (Chesapeake VA). Lifelong friends to Valicia Rawlins (Cohoes NY), LaVonne Jackson (Albany NY), Brenda Hooks (Albany NY) & a special friend to the late Arlene Myers. (Albany NY). Georgia is also survived by her Uncles, Sylvester Butler (Albany NY), John (Clyda) Clark (Clifton Park NY), Howard (Dorothy) Singletary, & William (Dawn) Singletary both of (Albany NY). Her Aunts, Joyce Turner-McKiever (Fort Lauderdale, FL), Martha Singletary (Albany NY), Nancy Tittle (Albany NY), Ann Wright (Albany NY), Sue McCullough(Detroit MI) & a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
