Eugene T. Salmond Jr., affectionately known as “Gene”, was born in 1958 in Bethune, South Carolina. At a young age, his family relocated to Albany where he went to school. He started working at Tobin Packing company then went on to a long tenure at the NYS Education Dept & Rayben Enterprises until his health started to decline. Gene was a kind, soft-spoken gentleman that loved his jewelry, clothes & his cars along with his family! He was definitely a Mama’s Boy!

Gene leaves to mourn his father, Eugene T. Salmond Sr., his fiancée & life partner, Arub Lewis; two daughters, Lashay (Reginald) & Hope(Terrill) Hopkins; stepchildren: Nia-Aliyyah Lewis, Nayyirah-Tarub Lewis, Najla Lewis & Ayyub Lewis; godchildren: My'jeleek Lewis & Marciquie Salmond; grandchildren: Rhyan Thompson, Teagan Hopkins, Tahiry Hopkins, Natiri “Bella”Hunter & Kevin Jones; siblings: Sheila Robinson, Thaddis (Ruby) Salmond, Jane Murray, Shawn (Betty) Salmond, Sr., Kyle (Kirk) Kinsele, and Mamie Reed. Nieces: Monique Salmond, Tienasha (Brian) Scott, Bobbie (Michael) Murray, Monica (Raequan) Brown, Marciquie (Zachary) Salmond, Laquasia Turner, Shaquna Turner, Thaisa Salmond, Stenzia Salmond. Nephews: Orlando Thompson, Dayshawn Turner, Rasheem Robinson, Lewis (Jami) Jackson, Samir Salmond, Nisir Salmond, Avante Salmond, Shawn Salmond Jr., Jordan Salmond, and Xavier Salmond. Uncle: Bennie (Ethel) Mackey. Gene was predeceased by his loving mother, Ruth A. Pounds & his sister, Sarah A. Thompson.  

Family and friends are invited to a final viewing on Saturday, June 17th, 2023 at S L Mclaughlin Funeral Home. (Address) Viewing is from 10am- 11am, with graveside ceremony immediately following. “
