Elizabeth Thompson born Mary Elizabeth Boyd on March 12th 1930, to George and Susie Mae Boyd in Laurens, South Carolina. She married Marshall Lee Thompson they moved to Albany, New York where she graduated from Phillip Schuyler and she also graduated from Colonial Beauty College. She also modeled tall women’s fashions while she went through school.
She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital and did private duty nursing until she opened her first business as the owner of The Curly Curl Beauty Salon which was a very successful business for years; she also was a night counselor at Albany Home for Children. In 1978 she retired as a beautician and moved to Oxnard, California. She began working for the Camarillo State Hospital until she opened 2 Residential Facilities for the Disabled Adults. Throughout her life she loved helping people She built a home in South Carolina for her younger siblings. As she raised her own 5 girls she was a Respite Foster Care Parent and participated in the Student Exchange Program at Suny University. Her first love was the Lord a faithful member of Wilborns Temple Church of God in Christ and dedicated sister to St. John’s Church of God in Christ. She enjoyed serving on the Usher Board and worked diligently to promote hair shows and fashion shows to raise money for the church. Her legacy was her 5 daughters , 2 proceeded her in death ,Hazel Knight and Dorothy Clark, left to mourn her are Carolynn Mackey (Douglas), Brenda Thompson, and Gwenndolynn Chappell (Joseph) she had 2 grandchildren that proceeded her in death, Kevin Wade Thompson and Steven Nathaniel Thompson survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, 4 sisters 4 brothers and many cousins nieces nephews and friends
