Obituary pending from Family.
suddenly, departed this life at Albany Medical Center on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 84 years young. Eddie was born in Lee County, SC on January-28, 1938 to the late Annie MaeHorton and Levi Robinson.
Eddie was educated in the South Carolina school system. He enjoyed staying busy and would help anyone who needed it at anytime, all while raising a family. Eddie paved the way for many in the Building and Construction Trades. He held the prestigious title of Master Craftsman. Under his expert guidance, generations of men and women became skilled craftsmen. He retired from the Capital Region Laborer’s Local 190 after 35 years in good standing. He continued to work and mentor others until his untimely passing.
Eddie married the love if his life, Doris (Mayo) on October 1957 to this union came Paulie Peebles, Penny Branch, Charles “Obar”, Jacqueline, Sylvia, Mark “Shine”, Stevie “Wise”, Eddie Jr. “Life” and Brianna; Raya- dorf Kornegay, Sabrina Young and Leslie Myers.
Eddie relocated to Albany in 1959 with his wife, daughter and fifty dollars in his pocket. Within twenty-four hours he acquired a job at the local Howard Johnson and an apartment on Van Warren Street. There he met lifelong friends RG and Ruth McCall.
Eddie, Sr. was affectionately known as Daddy, Dad , Grandpa or Poppa to his bloodline. He was a patriarch who understood the assignment he was given by God.
Eddie Sr.’s strong and loving presence was felt when he’d enter a room. He was a man who led by example. Eddie Sr. believed in structure and would start his day at 5:00 a.m. He’d make his coffee and sit to listen to his favorite radio programs: 1300 and Swap Shop.
Eddie Sr. enjoyed making his daily calls to his children , grandchildren and little sister.
He loved to dress. He owned over 200 suits. He also loved cars and renovating houses. His favorite saying was “Let that go” because he knew it was more important to let go and let God, than to harbor ill-will.
Eddie Sr. was a humble hard working man who’d give you the shirt off his back. Whenever or whatever, he never said no. He loved driving around on Saturdays sight seeing with his wife and finding deals at garage sales. He taught his daughters how to tie a tie and change a tire. He taught his sons about sweat equity. Together, Eddie Sr. and Doris raised their bloodline to love one another and to never stay angry more than a day.
Eddie was predeceased by his beautiful wife Doris; grandchildren, Dor’Asia, Our’Sson and Taron “Turtle”; and Johnny Welcome Jr.
