Donnell J. Lewis

Donnell Jason Lewis Sr passed away suddenly on Monday, July 29, 2024. He was born February 2, 1983 in Bronx NY and proudly represented his hometown no matter where he lived. He is the son of Jeffrey Johnson Sr and Altemeze Lewis. 

He is survived by his parents Jeffrey (Selina) and Altemeze, his partner Alicia, his children Jaionna, Donnell (Junior), Aaliyah, and Alina, his siblings Jeffrey Jr, India, Raven, Jacob, and Jamel, grandchildren Marsel, Alayah, and Keyante, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

Donnell spent many of his childhood years with his Aunt Linda learning important lessons and life skills. He enjoyed playing basketball as a child with his big brother Jeffrey. When he moved to Albany with his dad and Selina, he was excited to become a big brother and met many of the lifelong friends he still has to this day. Becoming a dad was one of the best days of his life, and he has cherished all of the special moments with his children over the years. He was a true family man, and his kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. One of those proud moments was recently as he was able to witness his daughter Jaionna graduate as a CNA. His best times were spent with his family, especially his siblings who he loved dearly and valued all the memories he had with them. He has enjoyed being a sports dad, attending practices, games, and events for football, soccer, T-ball, basketball, volleyball, and dance competitions, and built a special bond with the other sports parents. 

Donnell was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved the rivalry with his family and friends who are Giants fans. One of his favorite experiences was going to see the Cowboys play in Dallas, Texas. He had a love for flying and enjoyed traveling with his fiancé and kids to spend time in new cities. Once he realized his love for entrepreneurship, he enjoyed spending his time planning and building his business which was named for his children and nephews, JACADA Moving (Jaionna, Aaliyah, Christopher, Alina, Donnell Jr, and Anthony). He also loved working out and went to the gym every chance he got. 

Donnell was a free spirit who was extremely loved and will be missed by many. Services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm at S.L. McLaughlin Funeral Home located at 1226 Broadway in Albany, NY.
