In Loving Memory of Delores Dianna “Dee” Womack

Some people leave a mark on the world not through grand gestures, but through the quiet, steady way they loveothers. Delores Dianna “Dee” Womack was one of those people – a woman of unwavering faith, genuine kindnessand unconditional love.

Dee was born on October 27, 1958, in Halifax, Virginia, to the late Herman Lee and O’delia Mae Womack. She waseducated in the Halifax County school system before moving to Albany, New York, where she graduated fromAlbany High School with the Class of 1977. She went on to dedicate nearly 30 years of service as a bus operator withthe Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA). Just as she did with her family and friends, Dee treated thoseshe encountered each day with respect and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on many whose paths shecrossed.

Faith was the foundation of Dee’s life. Baptized at the age of 12, she became a devoted member of Mount ZionBaptist Church at the age of 25. For more than 40 years, she faithfully served as an usher and remained an activemember of her church family, demonstrating her love for God through service, compassion, and dedication.

Dee possessed quiet strength and a presence that brought comfort to everyone around her. With her warm smile,she had a way of making people feel at ease, welcomed, protected, and valued. Family and friends often turned to herfor advice because she listened without judgment, offered thoughtful guidance, and never hesitated to helpsomeone in need. Even during her illness, Dee remained a source of comfort to others. Though her body grewweaker, her spirit, grace, and steadfast love for her family never wavered. In moments when those around her struggled to be strong, Dee's quiet courage, gentle reassurance, and steadfast faith continued to bring peace to thepeople she loved most.

One of Dee’s greatest joys was traveling. Alongside her devoted partner of 30 years, Frank Commisso, she embracedevery opportunity to explore new places, create lasting memories, and experience the beauty of the world together.Whether close to home or far away, the time they shared was filled with laughter, adventure, and love.

Among her greatest blessings was the unyielding bond she shared with her sister, Sheila Womack. More than sisters,they were the best of friends – true “two peas in a pod” whose love and laughter for one another remainedconstant throughout their lives.

The same nurturing spirit extended to Sheila’s daughter, Cherriece “Nickey” Womack, whom Dee helped raise andloved as her own. Their bond reflected the guidance, encouragement and constant care that Dee so naturally gaveto those she loved.

She also embraced the role of a loving mother figure to Frankie Commisso II, who affectionately referred to her ashis “second mom.” Their bond was built on love, guidance, and support, serving as a beautiful reminder that some oflife’s deepest bonds are shaped not by blood, but by the love we freely give and receive.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Lee Womack and O’delia Mae Womack; her infant brother, DavidEric Womack; and beloved sister, Rosalie M. Womack. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted partner, FrankCommisso, her stepson, Frankie Commisso II, her siblings, Robert “Bob” Womack (Las Vegas, Nevada), Sheila Womack(Scotia, New York), James “Darryl” Womack (Birmingham, Alabama), Kathy Warren (Greensboro, North Carolina), andCharlotte “Jackie” Womack (Leroy) (Schenectady, New York); her cherished extended family, Vincent (Courtney)Commisso; Cherriece “Nickey” Womack, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews,cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her love. Dee alsoleaves behind cherished friendships with Abby Gamble, Keternia Alexander, Juanita Sturdivant, and Estelle Smithwhose love and companionship meant so much to her.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate physicians, nurses, and staff of Ellis Hospital andAlbany Medical Center for the kindness, professionalism, and exceptional care they provided to Dee during herillness. Your compassion brought comfort not only to Dee, but to all who loved her.

Though Dee will be missed, the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the faith she lived by will remain anenduring part of all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire those she loved, and she will forever beremembered with gratitude, admiration, and love.
