Cynthia Jones Obituary

Cynthia Monique Jones was born June 9, 1955 in Fort Hood, Texas, the second of three children of Johnnie B. and Ida Mae Jones.

Cynthia was educated in the Albany Public School system, graduating from Albany High School in 1974.  She furthered her education at Hudson Valley Community College in General Studies. She later became employed at The Hartford Insurance Company as a Claims Adjuster from which she retired after 38 years of service.  Shortly after she worked at Walmart for seven years.

Cynthia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and joined the fellowship at St. John’s Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of the late Elder Jack Johnson. In later years, Cynthia united with Metropolitan NTM Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Damone Paul Johnson.

Nice, loving, caring, free-spirited, friendly and fun are the words that describe Cynthia best.  Cynthia was an avid lover of music, dance, gardening, and her family.  She was most noted in the family for taking care of everybody’s children, doing their hair, and making them perform. Cynthia also fulfilled God’s word by honoring her mother who she took care of with great love.

On Thursday, July 2, 2020, Cynthia was called home to be with the Lord.  Cynthia was predeceased by her father, Johnnie B. Jones and her younger brother, Jerry Jones. Celebrating her life, legacy, and love are her children Louis “Avon” Norwood III (Tyler) and Monèe Chavon Burt; her beloved mother, Ida Mae Jones; her brother, Larry B. Jones (Brenda); her sister-in-law Robin Jones; her two grandchildren, Oliva Mae Norwood and Mason Louis Marshall Norwood; her godsister, Robin Cooley (Ronnie); beloved friends Lorraine and Calvin Bynum; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
