Clarrissia Gail Meaux was born on August 4, 1940, in Washington, D.C., to the late George and Virginia Davis. Though born in the nation’s capital, she was lovingly raised in Orange, Virginia. On May 5, 2025, Clarrissia peacefully entered into eternal rest at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her devoted daughter Robin, son-in-law Roger, and beloved granddaughter Kahdijah.
Clarrissia received her education through the Orange and Culpeper school systems. While attending Culpeper High School, she played on the school’s basketball team. She later pursued several business courses at Mildred Elley College in Albany, NY. During her time in Virginia, she welcomed her daughter Robin.
As a young adult, Clarrissia relocated to Brooklyn, NY. After a year there, she moved to Albany, NY, where she gave birth to her son, Alvin. On November 28, 1975, she married the love of her life, Hollins M. Meaux. Through this union, she embraced two stepchildren, Francella Haynes and Anthony Meaux, whom she raised with the same love and care as her own.
Clarrissia worked for many years at Sterling Winthrop until the company relocated in the 1980s. She then transitioned to a fulfilling career in food service with the Albany School District, where she remained until her retirement.
She had a passion for travel and cherished capturing memories through photographs. Road trips with Hollins to Virginia and Louisiana to visit family were among her most treasured times. A devoted basketball fan, she rarely missed a Brooklyn Nets game. Clarrissia also found joy in long conversations with her nieces and nephews back home in Virginia. In 2022, she became a proud great-grandmother to her great-grandson Shiloh, whom she affectionately called her “Little Shiloh.”
A faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church since October 30, 1977, Clarrissia served as a trustee from 1990 to 2000. She actively participated in weekly Bible study and sang in the choir until her health no longer permitted. Even then, her voice and spirit remained strong, continuing her praise from the pews.
Clarrissia will be remembered for her grace, impeccable style, her iconic hat collection, and her famous potato salad—always a family favorite. Her warmth and elegance touched the lives of all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Hollins M. Meaux; daughter Robin Moore (Roger) and son Tyrell Wimbush, both of Albany, NY; stepdaughter Francella Haynes (Alvin) of Opelousas, LA; and stepson Anthony Meaux of Houston, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren—Kahdijah (Justin) Austin, Ciaus Simmons-Meaux, Peyton Haynes, Isaiah Meaux, Elijah Meaux, and Amyah Haynes and one great-grandson, Shiloh Austin. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her cherished Bethany Baptist Church family.
Clarrissia now joins her nine beloved sisters in eternal rest: Anna Lee Lewis, Martha Herndon, Jean Thompson, Joyce Rollins, Joan Davis, Helen M. Aggie, Barbara Arnold, June Robinson, and Olivia Davis.
Her legacy of love, faith, and elegance will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
