Annie R. Simon

Annie Ruth (Jones) Simon, born January 9, 1939 in Faison, NC to the late Frank and Lena Mae (Pennington) Jones. Ms. Annie was a resident of Pamlico County, NC; prior to relocating to Albany, NY in 2007 to reside with her sister Lena McNeal.  

Annie was currently a resident at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home where she was known for her gentleness and faithful walks throughout her wing.  

Annie was a lovely, kindhearted person who took pleasure in reading, writing, and gardening.  While living in North Carolina, she could often be found in the early morning hours tending to her garden and enjoying an early morning stroll. Annie although quiet, she enjoyed being in the presence of jolly people; she had a way of interjecting a joke or two and having a good laugh. Annie was a very balanced and self-disciplined woman. 

Annie was reared in the church and never forgot her spiritual teachings, she enjoyed listening to hymns, the reading of scriptures and her relationship with Jesus was a part of her solid foundation. 

She was sister to the late Lonnie, Frank, Alexander, Walter, Pasty Jones and Allan Williams & one nephew who grew up in the home as a brother, Odell Jones.

To carry on her memory is one sister, Lena McNeal, who served as her primary care giver, Albany NY; one brother, Ernest Jones and one sister-in-law Vida Jones, Trenton NJ; nephew, Joseph McNeal; niece, Shirley (Russell) Piper who assisted as her care giver, and Makeema (Russell Jr) Piper whom she loved as a daughter, all of Albany NY; along with a host of other nephews, nieces, other relatives, & friends.
