Visitation is open to public, but Funeral Service is private, by invitation only.
Ann Vanderhorst suddenly departed this life October 30th, 2020 at Albany Medical Center. She was born January 12, 1954 in Georgetown, S.C. to the late Carrie Bell Smalls. She was adopted and was raised by Annie and Richard Vanderhorst. She moved with her family to Albany at the age of 2 and attended Albany Public Schools.
Ann was an amazing mother and loving grandmother. She was very outgoing and loved to have fun. She loved music, dancing and watching movies. She was truly the life of the party. But most of all, she loved her family time. Sunday dinners, family barbecues and just relaxing with everyone was special to her.
She was an active member of Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church where she served on the Usher Board.
She was predeceased by her mother Carrie Smalls, parents Annie and Richard Vanderhorst and her brother Andrew (Harry) Smalls.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Cathy Vanderhorst Brown (Maurice), Tyron Vanderhorst and Kiesha Vanderhorst, 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, uncle Richard Smalls (Kathy), aunts Geraldine Smalls and Ethel Smalls, cousin Janine Campbell, special brother Leon Harrison and best friend of 56 years Irene Oliver as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
