Alonzo Lawrence Ford, “Lonnie” was a man after God’s own heart. Born 60 years ago to Tyrone Ford and Dorice P. Vaughan on November 16th, 1962.
Alonzo “Lonnie” began his walk with God at the age of 16. He accepted the call on his life to spread the Gospel through preaching and exemplifying God’s love to everyone he could reach.
Lonnie graduated from Albany High School in 1981 and joined the Local 7 Union where he learned pipe fitting. Continuing to grow his craft, he moved on to become a Master Plumber, adding general contracting and starting his own business,which he had for over 30 years.
Lonnie was a current member of the Examining Board of Plumbers in the city of Albany. He served his community through his business and his ability to make every person he met feel like family.
Lonnie was married to Tyiesha Ford for 19 + years. He served his family first with the word of God as his example. “Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church,” this was exemplified in his love and devotion to Ty.
He is survived by his wife Tyiesha Ford, his siblings; Tyrone Ford, Darryl Ford, Terry Ford, Tanya Ford, Kimberly Anderson, Cammie Ford-Donnelly, Darrell Latney (preceded),sister in law; Tracy Ford and Angie Ellis-Ford, his children, Leona Ford, LeO’nna Ford, Alonzo M. T. Ford, Jahsana Mosley-Brown, son in law Brian Brown and daughter in law Lakeyla Ford, his grandchildren; Jayda Duncan, Serenity Ford, Mekhi Phinizy, Jahmari Mosley, Na’im Brown, Jahsai Brown and Janelle Ford, his god children, Margarita Vasquez, Jon Anderson, El’ Tashik Faruq, Danielle Fallen, Aleia Avery, nieces and nephews; Cieyel, Gabrielle, Darryl, Alyscia, Aliya, MiKaila, Eddy, Takeah, Porsha, Nicholas, Cailin, Brennan, Liam and a host of family members that will cherish his memory.
