Jean Ledbetter Obituary

Jean J. Pruitt Ledbetter was born on August 6, 1952 to the late Mrs. Thelma Battle and Mr. Thomas Jenkins in Scranton, PA. She did not come into this world alone, she was born with an identical twin sister, Joan.

 She attended Scranton Technical High School, Scranton PA and was a member of the Bethel AME Church, Scranton, PA.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Eddie Ledbetter and they were blessed with three children.

She was employed by MetLife, in Scranton PA. In 1997, she relocated to East Greenbush, New York where she continued to work for Metlife as a Program Support Analyst. After working 43 years with Metlife, she decided it was time to retire.

 Jean united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Albany, NY where she was a faithful and dedicated member. Any given Sunday, you would see her singing and smiling in the choir, where she served as President.  Jean was a dedicated member of the Missionary and Pastor Aide Ministry.

 A loving and joyful personality that would warm hearts, Jean was a faithful active Christian servant, who was loved by everyone she met.

 You could tell by how Jean lived that her faith in Jesus Christ was of utmost importance in her life.  

She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend who will always be missed.

 Known for her flare of style; her favorite hobby was shopping, shopping and more shopping. She had a love for clothes, shoes, hats, purses, fans and sun glasses. She most definitely had a Passion for Fashion. With a love for music and people, on any given holiday, she would open her home and heart to everyone. She was known for her famous Cornbread Dressing, Baked Macaroni and Cheese and Collard Greens and her home-made Christmas Cookies.  She made you feel like you were family.

 She was preceded in death by her, grandson; Amir Pruitt- Walker and sisters; Mary Elmore and Melody Pruitt.

 She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband; Eddie Ledbetter, Albany New York;  her daughters, Tarathee Pruitt and Janelle Ledbetter of Albany, New York; her son Edward Ledbetter of Everett  Washington; two grandchildren, Aaliyah-Jean Ledbetter Milgo and Aandrew-James Ledbetter Milgo, Albany, New York; Her twin sister, Joan J. Watson (Calvin), Troy, New York; her sisters, Julia Peters (Johnny), Mississippi ; Tressa Pruitt, Scranton PA, Deborah  Pageant, Scranton PA  and her brother Jerry Battle, Syracuse, NY. Her aunt Linda Jones (George), Harrisburg, PA. And a very special and loving friend Woodrow Gould of Albany, NY, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other  cousins and friends.
