Ann Standfield Obituary

Ann Standfield of Albany passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Friday, September 6, 2019 after a short illness. Born in Albany, NY on August 8, 1942. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Leola Woodard, two sisters Girlie Ferguson and Oceanna Burkhalter and three brothers Alfred Woodard, Paul Woodard and Walter Woodard.

Ann who was lovingly referred to as "Bay" grew up in Albany, NY and was educated in the Albany school district.

In 1960 Ann married William Payne and from that union two sons were born William Alexander Payne and Mark Anthony Payne who was deceased at birth.

At age 28 she began cosmetology school and graduated to become a cosmetologist in which she spent several years working in salons in Albany, Rotterdam and Schenectady. She then opened several salons in Schenectady. She later closed her last salon in Schenectady and relocated to Colonie, NY to be closer to her parents and in later years relocated "Ann and Alexander's" to her home on Rapp Road. She continued to do hair until she could no longer. After 40+ years of practicing the profession she loved so much she retired. She received many recognition for her contributions to the world of cosmetology.

Ann was an active member of Wilborn Temple COGIC from a young girl, where she served on the Usher Board and lended a hand whenever needed.

Bay as all of her family knew her was loving, caring, funny and so full of life at any time you would see her. She had the spirit of her mother always welcoming any and everyone in need into her home, but as well the sense of humor and no nonsense of her father.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son Dr. William Alexander Payne (Vicky) of Fayetteville, GA. Two granddaughters Brooke McGough of Esperance, NY and Bianca Yager of Dodgeville, WI and one grandson, Xander Payne of Edinburgh, TX.  One great grandson her "baby boy" Aiden Nico McGough. Two step-grandsons Garrod and Geremy (Jasmine), two step-great grandsons Geremy II and Jayden, and one step-great granddaughter Kenndi all of Georgia. Two sisters Pauline Walker and Emma Dickson of Albany, NY, One brother Wayne Jackson of Albany, NY. Her Godson Nelson Parsons. Her special friends Carolyn Clay, Evelyn Lafayette-Mills, Sarah McDowell and Lou Welcome. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
